Should i have waited?

Do you guys think i should of waited longer to build a new rig i mean i'm barely upgrading after 5 years or so lol. Should i have waited till the end of the year or what? I currently bought all my parts for i7 build, at the end of year are they going to make a new chip or what if so will it be better than i7? I'm curious

Hey what do you guys think should i trade in my Core i7 920 and motherboard for AMD Phenom II X4 955 to save extra dollars and buy a good card. The things im going to do is Gaming, Converting movies, burning movies, some photoshop << not extreme photoshop but some. Should i just keep my i7 or get Phenom... i mean i want this future proof not something i have to upgrade in 2 years since as you can read above im bearly upgrading from an old computer that i built a while back.
