Should I install games on a 1TB SSD or a 1TB HDD?

I have got an Alienware coming with a SSD and a HDD installed and a friend is telling me not to save games to the SSD cus they only have so many writes before they fail and the bigger they are, the faster they fail. Is this true? Will my SSD fail inside a year because it's a large size?

The bigger they are the slower they 'fail'.

Writing a game to an SSD is typically just one large write, using the SSD as page file would be hundreds/thousands of writes per day.

7 years would be a normal figure for normal usage patterns, I wouldn't be at all concerned.

The drive will be obsolete long before it 'wears out'. Writing 20GB a day a 1TB Samsung 850 Evo will last an estimated 127 years. Those are 'official' numbers as well. In testing these drives very often double the official numbers. The larger the drive the longer it will last and the faster it will be.

Not all SSDs are as well done as Samsung drives but even the cheap ones will last many many years with normal desktop use.
