Should I install Intel management engine driver? (Please Help)

I came here for with one question that 30 minutes of surfing did not yield a straight answer.

what does the "Intel management engine driver" do for an asrock Z77 extreme6 motherboard

90% of the time I will be using this new computer that i am downloading drivers for for gaming.

do I need it? do I want it? and mainly what does it do?

Ok, what do I do if it doesn't install successfully on windows 7 64bit and how do I make sure it installs correctly?

As this appears fairly high up in the Google results I just wanted to tell that the "correct" answer is wrong. It is a system for advanced remote administration of computers made by Intel. If you don't know what it is then you don't need it.

Both right and wrong It can also be used by monitoring and overclocking programs (most often the motherboard manufacturer programs) to alter and monitor the UEFI ("bios") directly from within Windows. These programs talk directly to UEFI through Intel Management Engine Interface.

This can perform various tasks while the system is booting, running or sleeping. It operates independently from the main CPU, BIOS & OS but can interact with them if needed.
