Hello.

So sadly enuff 2.4Ghz is the limit of my 64 3200+ [very dissapointing].

NO matter what cpu dividers/ramvoltages/timings/1T or 2T/vCORE/HTT x4/ i try its not getting past 2.4.....its very unstable at 2.42Ghz and crashes games at 2.5Ghz.

Any comments? would better ram lets say DDR500 help? AND should i just give up thinking that this cpu is one of those BAD venices?

thanks. (note: the cpu is a month old...just got it).

yes... not two chips will overclock the same. No sense in spending all this money trying to run a chip faster when cimply having purchased the faster chip would have saved you all this hassle in the first place..:) Unless you have a specific need for the extra speed (Uber High End graphics card) then I wouldn't be bothered trying to go higher once stability becomes a factor.

I'm having the same problem with my 3800+ venice. The damn thing will not stay stable over 2695 Mhz. I've been burning it in since the end of december and I still cant break 2700MHz. I'll give it another week underload before I try again, but overclocking is an exercise in patience. As mentioned before, no 2 chips overclock the same. It will take you awhile before you can get the max performance out of it.

As you burn the processor in it will loosen up and allow for higher speeds, or in the case of ram, lower timings. It all just takes time. start up a good burnin program and just let it run 24/7 on your copmuter when your not using it and that will help. Also be very careful about overvolting your chip, w/o adequate cooling you can burn it up fast.

I watercool my venice and I do not go above 1.55v as so be sure I don't burn it out, because I do not have the money to replace it lol. So take the advice as you will, but keep in mind my venice started out at 2400, and maxed out at 2600. it took me a good 3-5 weeks to hit 2695.

Edit: Ram will not help overclock your CPU as long as yoru not Ram limited, which is why you use a divider. Using the divider keeps the ram clocked near its sweet spot while you try and max out your CPU. Check out DFI-street.com and search difinitive AMD overlocking guide.

i dont think its your cpu.. i think its that shitty a8n sli ! lol wusy..
lol, same here,

Asus mobos don't overclock that well, they're maybe OK, below decent, so your mobo could be the problem.

Go DFI. This may be my first DFI board, but its amazing. Memtest 86 built in, more options than i understand, and amazing stabilty and OC'ing headroom. Check out my sig for how far i've been able to push my core. its at 1.55v overvoltaged @ 102.4%

JUST READ THIS IN A REVIEW FOR YOUR MOTHERBOARD VS MINE.

I mentioned earlier than the ASUS stops around 270MHz dHTT for me, whereas the DFI will run to 340MHz before running out of stability. For the user that wants to crank up to around 300MHz with a memory clock to match, your choice is clear.

I can not completely uderstand that .....is that the reason why my board cant get pass by 2400Mhz?

what is your FSB and multiplier? for instance 270 x 10 might be the max for an Asus mobo... and you got one of the bad Asus boards... so that probably explains why you can't even get that high up.

it could also be your ram holding you back as well. since its an asus board, i'm assuming there is no ram multiplier option and its being jacked up along with the FSB? If so, when your RAM reaches it's limit it can also cause stability problems even if your CPU can go higher.

so you've got a bad cpu, board and RAM :)

overclocking yay!

just checked on ocz website for mobo compatibility and it doesnt say my mobo anywhere :S

So if it is the RAM....what ares oem good rams i can get?

DDR500...DDR400? PC3200 or PC4000? what to get?

Oh my god! It is you again:) ı think you must stop right now my friend because ı think it is about to become an obsession for you or you are a real fighter . ı think there is nothing wrong with your hardware but with your settings. last time ı write to you ı was at 2.4 if you remember let me tell you how ı reached 2.5.

1- I couldn't sleep at nights with my agp board(Epox 9nda3I) and my 6600 gt and replaced it with an Epox 9npa3j and a 7800 gt :)
2- after building my system ı realized that my new board was sending 1.47 volt to the cpu ( ı think it is a general problem with epox) it was 1.35-1.40 before. this high voltage awakened my overclock sickness again.
3- this overvolting bothered me so much at first but then ı added +0.025 (total 1.49-152) voltage to the cpu and ı set it to 250*10 it booted but it crashed then ı decided to try my luck on my cheap poor kingston rams (ı am looking for a reason to change them:) ) and ı raised the ram voltage to the 2.8 then opps Ihave a 250*10:2500 mhz cou and 250 mhz 1:1 ram
4- it seems totally stable and my cpu scores are like this:

3dmark03: 1161 3dmark05: 5489 3dmark06:981

5- BUT ı have a little HEAT problem and ı need some advice . With my old mobo it was : idle :34 load: 40 vcore:1.35-1.40 (240*10:2400)
new mobo : idle :41 load: 50 vcore:1.49-1.52 (250*10:2500)
6- here are my questions:
a) different mobo different auto voltage normal?
b) am ı safe with present temperatures and voltages?
c) can ı go further? max dangereous temp and voltage?

I could but then i jsut got this setup like 3~4 weeks ago.....next upgrade will be like in a year or so...then may b yes....ive heard about the extraordinary overclocking potentials of the Opterons.

LOL>....ive swiatched back to stock speeds...2.0Ghz and now i will BURN A WEEK then raise fsb by 10....BURN ANOTHER Week raise again....mayb it will work...

IM OBSESSED as survivor said 😛

Ain't that right, An opty takes lower voltage to reach the same speeds, so its easier to overclock and keep cool. some of them are just the same price if not a tad more than a athlon. My money will always be on an opty.

ı ve ordered an arctic silver 5 thermal paste and we will see if it is gonna make any difference and ıf it does ı can move on :) ı will let you know..

While I can appreciate the desire to overclock, and have had moderate success myself. I fail to understand why people become dissappointed when they don't achieve a desired result. If you wanted to have a clock speed of 2.4~2.6GHz, here's an idea...how about buying a processor rated to run at that speed...for fuck sake...WAH 🙁 my proc won't OC as fast as it's not rated to from the factory...WAH 🙁 my proc won't OC as fast as someone elses...WAH 🙁 I want everyone in the forumz to tell me what to do so I can be cool like them...yes, just give up and buy a 4000 or an FX!

the reason I am disappointed when I don't achieve a desired overclock, is because I wanted 2.6Ghz for my 2Ghz money.... and, I wanted to have fun overclocking, nobody likes a failure of a mere 2.4

I got 2.8GHz for my 2.4Ghz money when I had a goal of 3Ghz.... and I dont consider it a failure at all. I'm still tweaking the damned thing 1 month after I got it. never give up never surrender.... oh wait thats Galaxy Quest, lol :).

let me help you understand people like us

1 - we don't buy that high stuff because we don't have enough money

2 - we want higher speeds with less money and we can do whatever we want to do with our own stuff we take the risk for it

3 - ıf ı buy an fx-60 you can be sure that ı overclock it, too.

4- Go and F.ck Yourself!

I'd be happy with 2.8Ghz too... but I'd still be disappointed I hadn't gotten more. It's like treasure hunting... once you've found the treasure, it isn't quite as fun anymore. Half the fun was just finding it,... the unknown, who knows how far this proc will oc? maybe this FX will go to 4Ghz.. 😱
