Ok so I'm building my first PC and I've decided to go with an AMD GPU because I have a freesync monitor. I'm hoping to pick up a new RX Vega 56 or 64 but I'm worried about heat due to its power consumption. According to some reviews the 64 can pull over 300W under load, and I'm wondering if I can get away with just air cooling it?
It will be primarily used for gaming. I won't be doing any overclocking, and normally it won't be used for more than a few hours at a time. Am I still at risk of overheating it? If not which air cooling system should I go with, blower style or open air? Noise is only a small concern, I'm much more interested in performance.
I'd really like to avoid watercooling the gpu, but I'm not going to risk damaging it if it's going to get way too hot with just air. Here are some other components in my rig for reference.
- i5 7600K
- Asus Maximus IX Hero Mobo
- EVGA 650 GQ, 80+ GOLD 650W Psu
Thanks in advance!
