Hey all! here's the details,
Im using an old gateway fx6802-07c(all stock) i7 @2.67Gh 920
So i just bought a Zotac gtx 750 ti to upgrade my old gtx 260.
I am running 2 monitors(1980x1020)
I have my gaming monitor on new card1 and secondary monitor on older card2. This seems to work perfectly with no downsides except I guess slightly higher power draw for having both cards running(inconsequential.)
Are there possible downsides I am missing?
The benefits:
card 2(old) has its own separate vram. This has multiple implications.
I often keep browser windows/flash open on screen 2. I assume this seperate vram would entirely handle these idle programs, reducing the load present on card card1.
BUT...
card1, being far stronger than card 2, might handle both screens better than the 2 combined, especially when tabbing between monitors regularly and given the age of the cpu/PC generally.
I have not tried to connect with sli but to my knowledge, it is not achievable with current setup.
(I would love to hear otherwise however!!)(both cards run 2048mb dedicated)
My question is: should i keep my older card active for my secondary screen?
can post more specs if needed,
