So I just got asrock z77 extreme 4 mobo and got

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory

Should I have gotten something better my motherboard accepts 2800 I wouldn't spend 250 on the ram for 2800 but should I have gotten different ram ? I can add another set later if needed if 1600 is good. Or should I buy something else and return those g.skil sticks ?

I am looking to game And general use. Other parts are.

Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W

MSI N660 TF 2GD5/OC GeForce GTX 660 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16

CORSAIR TX Series CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V

And crucial 256 SSD Sata 3

If your RAM sticks work fine, I see nothing wrong with replacing them. 8 gb of memory is already more than enough for the games and other programs you intend to run and the higher memory clocks like the one you stated only churn out trivial performance boosts in my experience.

Ram speeds make next to no difference when it come to gaming. From lowest to highest clocck speeds there's maybe a 5FPS swing.

So no you don't need so spend money on faster RAM. 8gb is perfect for most users.

There's a couple different articles out there on this topic.
