Question Should I overclock my brand new rtx 2070 gpu?

If you want it to last, and if you need to ask the question in the first place, then the answer invariably is usually no, do not overclock it. If you ARE going to overclock it, there are plenty of online tutorials on overclocking graphics cards in general. Hundreds of them in fact.

The question really is, do you NEED to, and if so, maybe you bought the wrong card.

What are your full hardware specifications including what resolution and refresh rate your monitor has, CPU model, motherboard model, memory specs, exact power supply model, etc.?

Don't bother. The gains from modern cpus/gpus with overclocking really aren't worth the effort nor the potential for damage.

10 years ago, sure, OC a gtx970 like a bandit, or a 3770k and get a solid 1GHz OC, but today's equipment is already pushed to those limits. You'll possibly get an extra 3-5fps out of an OC. At the cost of more heat, more power used, higher fan settings, higher temps.

No idea if its worth overclocking a RTX 2070 with the limited information given. You could already be CPU limited or your PSU may not be able to deal with an overclock and the required increase in power draw. Afterall you could have a RTX 2070 that is locked to stock power draw making overclocking pointless.
