Should I Overclock my CPU?

Hi, I recently bought a PC ( Customized ), And I chose Intel core i5 6600k, And a Cooler Master V8 GTS... I want to know, Can I OC the CPU or will it get overheated?

Assuming you have good case flow, you can probably max the chip out with that cooler.

Being able to keep the chip cool is only part of it, you will want to do a lot of research on overclocking methodologies and learn what NOT to do.

You can totally overclock it.
The CPU won't overheat. Also worth noting that the CPU will refuse to kill itself, it is incredibly low risk.

Overclocking makes it sound too extrume... In my opinion its more like, System Optimization or Fine Tuning.

What "NOT" to do also makes it sound ominious and scary.

There are literally two things that can be changed. Baseclock (BCLK) and multiplier.
BCLK x Multiplier = CPU speed.
100 x 42 = 4.2
I have a small OC to my BCLK and a decent OC on my multiplier.
103 x 45 = 4.635 See how easy it is?

You can ignore your BCLK and simply switch your multiplier to something like 45. Aaaand you're done. There is nothing scary about it.

While you're at it make sure XMP is enabled on your RAM, and you'll be golden.

There is very little to worry about NOT doing...

Greens, Really thanks, As you maybe noticed, I'm new to PC world, This my first custom and "Desktop" PC, I had laptops before, But let's just get into it... How much Ghz should I chose, I typed 39, According to intel ARK saying: "Max turbo frequency: 3.9GHz" Should i put more? Should I change the voltage?

39 is already your max multiplier....

Bump it up to 42 and see how it does!

You can increase the voltage, but only do so if you encounter instability. In order to figure out this whole OC thing you're goin to need to do SOME reading. it isn't too bad, but its more than i can get into responding to questions yah know?

100x42=4200Mhz or 4.2 Ghz

Your chip can EASILY push 4.6Ghz but i didn't suggest a number that high because it can cause instability - and you're not familiar enough with OCing to combat instability.

As long as your CPU isn't going over 85degC you're totally fine.

You should always stress test to make sure you are stable.

You turbo clock is already at 3.9. setting your multiplier to 39 ain't gonna change anything...
