So I was wondering if i should overclock my 980. I already over clocked my i5 4690k from 3.5 Ghz to 4.5 Ghz! I know it is different overclocking a gpu but I'm willing to try if it improves my FPS in game. I'm not really familiar with overclocking gpus , so it would be really helpful if you guys left a forum or video in your answer. Thanks for your help! :)

Are you experiencing unplayable frame rates? If not, then is there another reason you wish to overclock (folding/mining)?

If it's just for gaming and your frames are fine, then IMO if it ain't broke...

It is very easy to overclock GPUs, just download one of the many GPU overclocking programs, Percision X, MSI afterburner, Asus GPU Tweak, and so on. Personally i use the MSI Afterburner http://gaming.msi.com/features/afterburner

Here is a video with someone using Asus GPU tweak: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fyk5DCladcY
(they are all pretty much the same so whatever OC program you choose to use this video will help you do it.)

Here is the Asus GPU Tweak download: http://downloads.tomsguide.com/ASUS-GPU-Tweak,0301-49504.html

Should you is a good question, I personally have gained alot of FPS from a good GPU overclock. I can run Farcry 4 at ultra on a GTX 750 2GB. First check your GPU temp with any various monitoring program out there. If the temp is about 40-60 under load, you should be ok for a overclock, the lower the thermal the better. The GTX 980 is already a great card, and the temp stays low, so overclocking might give you 5 more fps, but dont do it if you dont have the thermal headroom!

You should be able to get about 20% more FPS out of a good overclock on your card... Just watch your temps, anything under 80c is fine. You can adjust fan profiles to keep the card cooler if needed. If you are already getting 60fps (or whatever your monitor refresh rate is) in all your games you have no need to overclock.
