Hey, i was wondering if it would be safe to overclock my Intel i5 4590 @ 3.3 ghz to 4ghz or above, my cooler is a Coolermaster Hyper 212X Cpu Cooler. i know you cant really overclock non "K" series cpus but if it was, would it be safe? and can you overclock if it isnt a "K" series like mine.

Thanks for any suggestions!

The i5 4590 is a factor locked model and cannot be overclocked by increasing the multiplier but I guess you already knew that. However, with a good quality motherboard you can overclock by changing the BCLK but that also overclock everything else. Using BCLK overclocks everything including including things not ever meant to be overclocked like your sata ports and PCI-E slots. You can easily damage components by going too high with the BCLK. You can try to do that but first search for guides online to see what have they achieved at at what settings. In my opinion, I would not OC by increasing the BCLK.
