Should i refund my i5 10400f for i5 9400f?

I know dumb and such a weird question to ask but i have my reasons first spend weeks waiting for 10th gen motherboards to be in stock where i live and non of them are in stock but b365 all the 9th gen mobos are like in stock. Most of the 9th gen motherboards are in stock.

I wouldn't, as the 9400f is inferior being a 6c/6t vs a 6c/12t cpu. Where do you live, that 10th gen boards are not available? You may want to keep an eye out for any 11th gen 500 series boards too. They are starting to show up, at retailers, and would be compatible with the 10400f.
