I have an hp 2000 notebook pc with 360gb hdd. I've read that adding a SSD makes it faster. Would it still work faster with an SSD even if it has less memory than the hdd? I don't need that much memory and the smaller ssd is cheaper than a 300+ GB ssd

Solution
the size of the storage has nothing to do with it's speed.
yes, and SSD will make an old computer with an old HDD feel like new and then some due to the speed increase.

However, can you tell me what country you are in?

And what the approx. budget for a new drive is?

Just in case you are in America like me, here's two options for 250GB and 500GB

Crucial MX500 250GB - $53

Crucial MX500 500GB - $75

If you live anywhere in the US that isn't New York or New Jersey, you won't pay taxes on the purchases you make through B&H.

Even if you gave 5GB of cache to the HDD, it'd still be slow compared to an SSD. I'd say, go for it, but please bear in mind that not all SSD's are created equally and then there's the point about the SATA ports speeds. If you're running at SATA 2 or SATA 2 speeds for your laptop.

Mind sharing your laptop's SKU?
