It was a decent build when I got it, I built it for around $1200 at the time. My first build, and is still is holding up. It's been three and a half years tho.. and "the world went and got itself in a big damn hurry." 4k, 1440p, UHD Wide Sceens, Nvidia G-sync, VR, etc.

I don't even know the difference between DDR3 and DDR4 ram, and the latency associated with them?

You guys have helped me thus far, if I'm going to start to upgrade - what would you replace? Keep in mind that I want to gradually build on to my computer, I know the 1060's just came out for $250-280. Not a bad mid range card, I paid $400 for my EVGA 670 at the time.

is 1080 really that bad? my friends call me a peasant for not joining the revolution, is it that big of a difference?

Eh as far as gaming goes there is no difference between DDR3 and DDR4 so don't worry about that. For 1080p the 1060 will be a fantastic card, past 1080p you'd want to look into a 1070 or 1080. Also, 1080p isn't bad. It's beginning to be phased out as the standard but it will be a few more years before we have affordable GPUs that can push 4k which is what it looks like may become the new standard. Personally I think the ideal standard is 3440x1440p but I can't afford the monitor I want AND the card that I would need to drive it. As long as you're happy with 1080p there's nothing wrong with it. However, there are noticeable differences at the higher resolutions.

Will there be any conflict with my current parts? I know it takes less power which is good, I was pushing it running a 500W PSU vs my 433W system demand.
