So recently my dads gateway ne71b has slowed down. I checked his CPU temps and they were at round 52–62F. I checked to see if his HDD was failing and according to crystal disk info, it said “caution” due to reallocated sectors count. Should I replace the HDD or do you think there’s another problem?

hmm... you should be able to get away with it for a while, with the idea that you will upgrade the laptop or replace the hard drive in the next year or two. That said, if you start noticing more sectors going back you will want to consider replacing.

There's only one sector causing the HDD to be under "caution", should I still purchase a new one?

I don't really know much about the laptop because I don't have it with me right now but it has a 500GB 5400RPM SATA HDD. As for how old it is, it's probably like 5 or 6 years old.
