[SOLVED] Should I replace my PC?

Hi all,

I am brand new to the forums and have only done a bit of tinkering upgrading my Dell XPS 8900 desktop pc. I'm wondering if I should replace my desktop with say a Legion 5i Gaming desktop for the better graphics card and processor (currently priced $949 at Best Buy). I have quite a bit of RAM that should be easy to change out if needed (see below). I do some emulator games (old NES and SNES), some online games such as D+D online and GTA V, but I would like to be able to have a good VR experience. I understand the current situation with GPUs and the difficulty of obtaining one. I think my current motherboard and processor are decent, although I may be mistaken. My current specs are below:

Dell XPS 8900
Skylake i7 6700 @ 3.4 GHZ
32 GB DDR4 (upgraded from 16 GB), 16 GB that came with the system and two sticks of 3200 8 GB DDR4 Corsair I believe
2 gb DDR4 GT 1030 ("upgraded" from GT 730( not much of an upgrade))
1 TB HDD
240 GB WD SSD (added)(I usually load my games from this drive)
450 Watt Power Supply

I had a I7-6700 (just sold it). My FPS in games went up a lot.

What do you use it for?

Most gaming's PC right now that are decent going to be around 2k.

I am willing to spend about $1000. I like to game, however I dont want to go crazy overboard with it. I guess Im comfortable with that, if that makes any sense.

For now you have 2 different ddr4 kit, one kit stock (which i dont know) and one kit 3200mhz?

If you don't mind to keep the old pc components, you could reuse your ram and gpu while waiting for a better graphics card, and buy this:

The budget killer is going to be the gpu.
You can upgrade all the other parts but if you reuse that 1030 your not going to gain much gaming wise.

Perhaps you can pick around the edges a little to bump what you have.
Reboot and wait 5 mins then run this and post a link to the results.

Lenovo Legion Tower 5i Gaming Desktop Intel Core i5-11400 8GB Memory NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD Raven Black 90RS000DUS - Best Buy . It comes with the 1660 super already. I guess if I went this route I would just need to change out the RAM.

well if you really need the gpu you could do that way, but if you want to reuse everything making it more efficient upgrade, making every budget worth the buy, and wait until gpu prices drop, you could go with my opinion.

I never prefer a prebuilt since sometimes the upgrade path is just that hard, out of expectation, ended up need to rebuy either psu, mobo, etc.
