Should I return the western digital caviar purple?

I had bought parts for a budget build with an amd a8 6600k and while buying the hard drive I accidentally bought a western digital caviar purple 1TB instead of caviar blue. Should I return the caviar purple? Is it much worse in performance than the caviar blue?

The WD Purple is built for business PCs using surveillance cameras, but as far as performance goes, there's not much difference in performance between the two.

I read that purple runs at 5400 rpm while blue runs at 7200 rpm is this noticeable?

I would agree with Joseph DeGarmo and say that the WD Purple is designed for surveillance systems. When talking about performance and personal computer usage, I would say that the WD Blue is the better option. So, return the WD Purple and get WD Blue if you can.
