so i just upgraded to a new cpu (i7 9700k) and got a gigabyte b365m ds3h motherboard to go along with it, this motherboard has 4 slots for ram (maximum of 64gb). i'm currently using 2 sticks of 8gb corsair vengeance ddr4 @ 2400mhz. however, i also have a 8gb stick of crucial ballistic ddr4 @2100mhz. should i put that into my computer too? i don't know everything about the dual channel stuff or whatever and the speed of the crucial ballistic stick will be slower then the other two but it will get me up to 24gb of ram. so should i put it in or not?

No harm in trying.

Few possible outcomes.

1. Mixing works. Dual channel operation for the two pairs and single for the odd ram. Ram frequency would drop to the lowest stick.

2. Mixing doesn't work causing odd system behaviour. Crashes, system reserved ram. Possibly drop in performance due to decreased ram speed.

Comes down to trial and error. Could possibly try force 2400MHz across all three or leave it default. Default would be 2133, not 2100?.
