Question Should I securely erase SSDs (M.2 NVMe) before reselling them?

When I sell back my drives, I usually securely erase them so the data is impossible/hard to recover.
But I'm talking mostly about disk drives.

Regarding SSDs (in this case M.2 NVMe SSDs) I'm still not sure if they have use for secure erasing given that they use a different technology than disk drives. I read some stuff and the opposite on the Internet.

(Also it is an annoying operation for because I don't have the hardware to easily swap M.2 drives as I can do for other drives, that's why I'm wondering about this. I'd need to open computer, remove GPU, swap M.2, place back GPU ... multiple times...)

Encrypt whole disk before secure erase.

I thought of something like this though, if I encrypt a disk, it will only encrypt the data that are currently "on the disk", I mean not the space of deleted files/space the is free for writing right? So should I fill up the disk before encrypting? (no real experience with encrypting).
+ isn't that equivalent to simply make an extra pass of secure erase with random data ?

Also, this means it's confirme that SSDs need secure erasing as do disk drives?
