Should I sell my core i7 920 system and get a core 2 Quad instead?

Here is my specs:
i7 920
Corsair 3GB DDR3
ASUS P6T non-deluxe
XFX 8800GT alpha dog
Corsair TX 750W PSU
WD 300GB 7200rpm SATA HDD
Enermax Uber Chakra Full tower case
Windows XP 32-bit

If I sold this system I would sell it for $1000, would this be a good price?

I would end up getting a new system based on a core 2 quad CPU for $1200, are all the below parts good?

Q6600 (would OC to 3.0GHz+)
750i Mobo
4GB DDR2-800
GTX 295
Antec 300
Corsair TX 850W PSU
500GB HDD
Vista x64
aftermarket HSF
DVD drive

Stick another 3GB or RAM in your i7 machine so you have a total of 6GB and get a slightly better graphics card. Something like the 9800 GT would be kick ass.

Im not sure how good having 6x1GB of RAM in an i7 system is (vs. 3x2GB), and WHY would I pay $120 to upgrade from an 8800GT to a 9800GT???? They are the EXACT same thing except the 9800GT is on a 55nm process.

The reason I would want to sell the whole system vs. upgrade is because I am 14 years old (poor, jobless, broke) and the only money I will have in the foreseeable future is the $200 I can get selling my xbox 360 stuff.

The 9800GT would be a worthless upgrade, true.

However, 6x1GB RAM is a good choice, as well as Vista x64. If you're unhappy about graphics performance, a second 8800GT for SLI would work, or you could wait for the current stuff to drop a bit in price.

i would upgrade to a 9800GTX+/GTX260/4850/4870 one of them if i was you. your 8800GT is your bottleneck in your system but i might be wrong as well. but thats just my 2 cents

The 9800GTX is still not enough of an upgrade. It is only a minor bump over an 8800GT. Besides, 8800GT SLI beats every card you listed, and is cheaper if you already have a single 8800GT.

Yeah I was thinking of doing SLI 8800GT's but the only retailers I can find that sell them anymore are WAY overpriced (in the $200+ range), so I think the only place I can get one nowadays is on ebay which I am not TOTALLY against but would prefer a brand new one. Isn't it true that you can't SLI an 8800GT with a 9800GT even though they are basically the same GPU?

I might just trade my mom my 8800GT for her 4830 and get another one for C-fire since they are easier to find and can be bought for under $100.

I personaly would not get rid of the I7, instead i would wait and get some more money from birthday or whatever , possibly sell the 8800gt,xbox stuff and get a better video card(just make sure your powersuplly can handle it what ever you get in the future)................As for the ram I'm not sure since windows XP uses only up to 2GB for games and 4Gb for other aplications.
