Question Should I set NIC IP in BIOS or the OS ?

The server is an older Dell Power Edge with dual NICs and the OS is Hyper-V. I have the option to set the IP in BIOS and/or Hyper-V. Is there any advantage to setting it in BIOS versus Hyper-V or should I set it as the same in both locations ? Thanks.

Is the NIC you are talking about the iDRAC port ? That is the management interface for the server.

No. It does have an iDRAC port in addition to the two NICs. I have set the IP Address for the iDRAC but am wondering whether I should set the IP Address for the two NICs through BIOS or Hyper-V Server.

I would let the OS set them. The earlier in the boot process you configure them, the more difficult it can be to change things.
