Should I stay with my I5 2500k or move up to an I72600k/ I73770k

I am upgrading my motherboard so i can go SLI gtx680's. I want to upgrade from an I5 to an I7 at the same time. I like to overclock a bit, I run my current I5 2500k at 4.8ghz. With that being said if I do upgrade should I go with sandy bridge or ivy bridge? The reason I ask is because of the heat problem with ivy bridge I have read about. My other concern is the fact that with ivy bridge you get PCI-e 3.0. Does 3.0 vs 2.0 with a newer I7 make that much of a difference to make it worth buying a Ivybridge I7 or just staying with my I5 and upgrading my Mobo.
Oh..Fyi i do use a Kuhler h2o 620 for my cpu.

Thanks in advance

You don't need an i7, only difference between it and an i5 is hyper-threading.

If you're going to be doing encoding and the likes, then the i7 is a good idea.

3570k is like around 5% faster if I recall, and runs hotter. 2500k is an amazing chip, Intel has a new line coming out very soon too anyway.

Also PCIe 3.0 is pointless at this point in time. PCIe 2.0 isn't even fully saturated yet. We won't need PCIe 3.0 for awhile.

While SLI'ing your 680's is a good idea. The money spent now on a end of life platform with 1150/Haswell coming out so soon would not be ideal IMO. If you really are itching to get it done then yes, upgrade the motherboard but the CPU will be fine as it is. No need to bother there.
