Hi everyone!

Recently I bought an EVGA x99 FTW motherboard which rocks a SPDIF connection (which my previous motherboard didnt have). I also got an EGVA GTX 980 Ti Hybrid which also output sounds via HDMI and its what Im currently using for sound.

My question here is: In my old PC I had a Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional Sound Card. Should I still use it for sound output or the videocard sound output is better?

Currently using Windows 7 x64.

Thank you!

The sound card is usually for headphones and whatever you hook up to a audio jack on your case to like speakers. Now if you use a TV to game on or a Monitor with speaks on it you wont notice a difference unless it's hooked up to it.

I failed to mention that my PC is connected to a Samsung HT-Z220T 5.1 Home Theater. This connection can happen in 2 ways:
1 - Graphic Card HDMI sending sound to the TV, which then sends sound to the Home Theater via SPDIF.
2 - Using the dedicated Sound Card to output directly to the Home Theater via SPDIF.

Also failed to mention that I mainly use my PC for gaming (Witcher 3, Farcry 4, Battlefield 4, Metal Gear Solid,... ), but also use for Series (Walking Dead, Orphan Black,...), Music and Movies, in that order.

Use the second option, connect it to the soundcard.
