Should I switch from 1680x1050 to 1920x1200 with these specs?

Greetings from the Phillipin-gs (at least I tried), I am currently using a 21.5in 1680x1050 TN display and I'm planning on getting a 24in 1920x1200 IPS display soon. With these specs:

GTX 680 2GB
Intel i5-3470 (3.2 GHz quad-core)
8GB RAM

(I'm basically running a 2013 gaming computer rig)

Would I notice a drop in performance if I do upgrade?
I'm currently playing Middle-earth : Shadow of Mordor @ Very High getting around mid 70's to low 80's of FPS, League of Legends (which can basically be run by a potato), DoTA 2, CS:GO, MGS V.

I do plan to pick up Fallout 4 and Mortal Kombat X soon too.

I don't mind not maxing out everything, as long as graphics are on par with console graphics, I am fine with it.

Would you recommend that I switch to the higher resolution, or should I stick with my current display, because my GPU is "wack outta date"? Or alternatively, should I use 1080p instead?

Of course you will get a performance drop since the GPU will need to render more, but the 680 should handle the increased resolution without too much fuss. Even though it is a couple generations old, it is still one of the top 20 cards out there right now.

I did exactly that in 2012, upgrading from a 22" 1680x1050 Samsung monitor to a 26" 1920x1200 Samsung monitor with a single GTX 680. I do not remember the exact FPS drop, but it was enough for me to warrant getting a second 680 for SLI in games like Crysis Warhead.

Regarding 1080p, if you've been running at 16x10 for this long, you'll have a hard time getting used to the reduced vertical lines of 16x9 of 1080p. But it will give you a little more FPS over 1200p.
