Question Should I switch to AMD?

At the moment, I am using an intel CPU with an Nvidia GPU. Im considering building a new PC, but switching over to AMD and I would like to continue to use my current Nvidia GPU, which leads me to my main question.

Is it possible to use an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 with an AMD CPU?

Additional thing to consider is what CPU you are currently using. Only worthwhile switching to a new one if there are actual performance gains.
