Hello, im having a problem with my GPU. ( i think its because my CPU and MOBO is old ) Every time i play a game i get the " Display Driver stopped responding and has recovered" error. Would updating the GPU bios help me solve this problem ? ( I know what is a bios update and what can go wrong )

My GPU is RX 460 OC Windforce 2gb

Solution
Try taking them off the keyboard and double checking the mechanism underneath, that it freely springs up.
You can get an extension cord with surge protection, sure, but in case of bad wiring, that's not going to solve it. Just...be very cautious with this, especially leaving your computer on unattended (on while you're sleeping, with no sleep mode on etc.) until you're absolutely positive it's not the wiring of your outlets.
I would update motherboard bios before you try mucking with the gpu bios, especially if your motherboard is old, as newer bios may have improved compatibility with latest vga cards. Also, I'm assuming you tried updating video drivers first, right?

Yes. Be careful to follow manufacturer's instructions when flashing bios, as it indeed is risky and can bork your windows installation (and the motherboard itself). Also, backup your stuff before you do anything and have your windows install usb key on hand in case you need to run a quick repair on boot.

Hmm. Before doing a gpu bios flash, I'd contact your manufacturer (in your case AMD) and ask them for advice, at least the online tech support. They're likely to tell you if the gpu bios flash is likely to have any positive effects. If not, don't bother risking your card. If yes, they'll walk you through it.

Hello, i told AMD about my problem and sended me this
The error you are receiving could be triggered if the GPU is taking more time than permitted to display graphics to your monitor or if the TDR setting is set to low. Delaying the TDR time will resolve the issue.

I suggest you to refer the below links and try the Timeout Detection and Recovery steps provided in the thread which have resolved the issue for many users.

If the issue persists, please try performing the clean boot in Windows, which helps to eliminate the software conflicts during the windows boot process, refer the below link to know how to perform it:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows

But nothing helped.

What did you set the TDR to? The delay should be by default at 10sec I think. Did you try higher? Any difference if you do set it to say 15?
This link was pretty comprehensive:

and if you reinstalled windows, and tried everything on it (tested your cpu-Prime95, gpu-Furmark, memory-Memtest), and only gpu fails, then as they list it themselves, replacing the hardware is the last option.
So if I were you, I'd take that list, literally check off each point and write to them what you've tried, including results of all the tests, reinstalls and everything, attach test outputs if necessary and then ask whether you should RMA or not because at this point there's nothing left to test.

So, i tried to set it to 10 and 15 but still the same and i also tried formating the pc. Still all games crashing

The cable was connected to the monitor and when i tried to plug it in to the GPU i saw something wierd ( like a blue light....You know <mod edit> is not right ) and when i touched the end of the cable it zapped me.

Yeah something it wrong with your ground and charge buildup like that can seriously fry your components. Next thing to ask...is your monitor properly plugged into 3 pronged outlet in the wall? Same with your computer? Is wiring on your house solid? I've had wiring issues before, and many old houses aren't properly grounded. Get someone qualified to test this for you asap. Not just for your computer, but because lack of proper grounding on any of the circuits is a terrible fire hazard. I've even had router get fried once cause cable company messed up wiring on the cables and did not ground them (or that's what they told us). Just..figure out if it's a more systemic issue.

HOLY <mod edit> THAT IS THE PROBLEM! IM GETTING THE DISPLAY DRIVER ERROR BECAUSE OF MY EXTENSION CORD! 2 DAYS AGO I REMOVED MY FAN THAT I HAVE PLUGGED TO THE SAME EXTENSION THAT THE PC IS CONNECTED AND I GOT THE DISPLAY DRIVER ERROR! AND I OLSO DROPPED MY KEYBOARD AND I THINK MY CAPS LOCK KEY IS BROKEN BECAUSE I CANT TURN IT OFF!

Lol. But at you sure it's only the extension cord? Or is it also the outlet that the cord is plugged into? Fan is fairly basic low key electric device and you wouldn't have noticed a difference with it if there was an issue with your outlet's ground. Anything heavier (that needs a 3 pronged cord) would be much more affected (and more likely to catch fire). It is super important you get someone qualified to double check this, I can't stress this enough.

IM NOT 100% SURE, BUT IM GONA BUY A NEW EXTENSION CORD ASAP, A GOOD ONE, FROM THE ONES THAT HAVE EXTRA PROTECTION AND SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

*MY CAPSLOCK, DELETE, HOME, NUMBER 8 AND 9 ON THE KEYPAD AND THE ENTER ON THE KEYPAD IS BROKEN*
