Should I update to i5-4690k

Right now I have FX 6300 and HD7950, should I upgrade to i5-4690k or go with FX8320/8350. With AMD I don't have to buy new motherboard.

What is causing you to want to upgrade?

Will you/have you overclocked your current processor?

I would keep what you have. Then next year upgrade to an Intel CPU and new mobo to boot.

Mainly gaming, I have overclocked current FX6300 almost to 4.6Ghz. Thinking about upgrade because I have 90 dollar gift card to spent.

To be honest 4690k at stock 3.5Ghz will beat your 6300 at 4.6ghz. It would be an upgrade but you'll need a new MB.

I still think you should wait...

If you're happy with your performance for now stick with the fx

The 8350 won't show any major improvements in gaming

Is Skylate really going to be such a big change with DDR4? Right now DDR4 does not make a much difference so far.

It looks like there's be some big improvements with the 100 chipset such as more PCIe lanes so it might be worth waiting for but rumour has it the release has been delayed so maybe not...
