Currently I have an i5 4690k paired with a GTX 980ti and I am looking to switch to a 1440p monitor for gaming. Question is will my current cpu allow me to do this at high/ultra at a solid 60fps or do I need to upgrade?

If so what would be the most cost effective way of upgrading?

Thanks

Solution
1. cpu from i5 to i7 (such as 4770k or 4790K or equivalent E3-1231 V3 or E3-1276 V3 Xeon if your board permits it.)
2. more ram will definitely help... if your at 8Gb I suggest 16Gb at very least
3. in some cases upgrading motherboard/cpu is worth the price of a 4790K used. something to consider as a 8400/mobo is prices cheaply of late and you gain 2 cpu's and 4 threads in the process.

What is the make and model of your motherboard.
