My spec:
  • i5-13600K
  • 32GB DDR5
  • GTX 1080
  • 1440p monitor
I never put my GTX 1080 under stress. I have been playing Team fortress 2 and csgo since like 7 years ago and nothing else.

I have another more powerful build. This is my office build and I mainly want to play 2022 games and below at 1440p.

Now I have compared benchmarks and I know that both GPUs perform similarly kind of, But I am interested in RTX 4060's integer scaling and other new features like DLSS and etc ..

Do you think it is a good idea to upgrade to RTX 4060 ? Should I wait for RTX 5060 ? will the price be the same ?

Hey there,

Eh, the short answer is yes! Absolutely. The GTX1080 is miles behind a 4060. The 4060 is about 25-50% faster in pure raster gaming (game dependant)

This vid is of a 1080ti v a 46060:

. So we're extrapolating down. It's huge bump in FPS.

You have a damn fine system, so matching it with a superior GPU, only makes sense to me.

If I were you, I would 100% get it, if that was something you planned. You will be delighted with the uplift.

Also, you're getting the latest tech DLSS 3 etc. Buy the 4060 and don't look back :)

Let us know how it goes.

Or maybe buy the RTX 3070 as it performs better than the 4060?

Yes, depending on price that could be an option. Here's a vid showing the better performance of the 3070:

- it's at or about 20% faster than the 4060.

I wouldn't buy a 3070 second hand though.

Also, the 4060 has DLSS 3 and Frame Gen in it's armoury. It's a close call either way.
