Should I upgrade from i5-6500 to i7-7700K

Hi all, just thought I'd ask the question as I have recently purchased an Oculus Rift and got into streaming and video editing quite a bit. I've had a few occasions whilst gaming and streaming that viewers have said my stream has frozen, so I'm wondering if the extra power of the i7 (or even Ryzen 7 1700) would help the situation?
The CPU is currently paired with a GTX 1080 and I use a dual monitor setup of which the main monitor is 1440p.

what motherboard? Do you already have an aftermarket cooler? Are you going to sell your i5 6500 with it's cooler included?

I have a Z170 motherboard and I've already updated the BIOS, so it is compatible. I have a H100 water cooler fitted and the stock Intel cooler is still in the box untouched. I guess I would sell the CPU as i would have no use for it if I upgrade.

Then the 77700k would be a good upgrade.

I say go for the 7700K. You already have a good cooler and a Z-motherboard.
