[SOLVED] Should I upgrade from i7 6700k to 10700k?

I was planning on upgrading the CPU and motherboard and I want to know if it's smart to upgrade or wait. GPU is a 1080Ti and 16gb of RAM. Mostly I play games in 1080p.

Wait for 15 days ... Ryzen 3 is coming ... and there will be extreme competition and both Intel and AMD products will have some Price drops ... and also you will get new CPU choices

Is the 6700k limiting you in the games you play? What Hz is your monitor?

If still semi-content with your as is, I'd certainly consider waiting the 3 more weeks to see what falls out of AMD's proverbial Ryzen 3 tree...(I'm hoping the 10700K and 10900K get some competition as 'FPS kings')

I have a 240hz monitor. And i think it is bottlenecking in high player multiplayer games like Battlefield, Warzone and such. CPU usage goes up and GPU falls down.

Ok with high Hz and those multi threaded cpu heavy games a cpu upgrade should give a decent improvement. However as above wait and see the new Ryzen 4000 series offers.

well, if you feel the need is because you need more power right? ofc you should wait a bit more to see what amd has to offer, but as for me, who went from 4770k to 10700k, was the best deal i could have ever done, it overclocks easily to 5.1/5.2, i think it actually runs cool for such frequency and is a beast, plus, pcie 4.0 has 0 fps improvements over pci 3.0 up to 4k resolutions, so im at peace, and I think you can't go wrong with it, but again, lets see what AMD has to offer.
