Title says it: should I upgrade from an i5 2500K to the new i5 6600k?
My current rig:
CPU: i5 2500K
RAM: 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR3-1600Hz
Mobo: Gigabyte Z68P-DS3
Future Upgrade (if I decide to bite on the skylake cpu, course i have to upgrade Ram and MOBO as well):
CPU: i5 2500K
RAM: 16GB G.Skill Ripjaws V or G.Skill Trident Z DDR4
Mobo: A Z170 Board, not sure yet.
What I do:
College Student, the usual: Game, Homework, Multimedia stuff.
What I know:
-I know that games are practically NOT CPU dependent. In actuality, if I were to upgrade, I would mostly be looking towards a features update.
-My budget Gigabyte Z68P-DS3 motherboard is not the most overclocking-friendly board. I can't directly change my CPU VCore (voltage), as it does not allow that option.
-Also, I have 3 Storage Drives
I was wondering if the wonderful Tom's Hardware community would approve of this upgrade? Should I go for it? Thoughts, comments, anyone else on the same boat?
Thanks for your time in reading! I'm sure other's are having this mindful dilemma of upgrades as well!
Feel free to link me any articles or benchmarks you think I may find interesting! I'm super open to it =D
