I currently have a R5 3600x, 2070 super, Strix b450-f with 16gb of cl15 3000mt/s. I'm considering upgrading to a 5800x with a 3080. Should I also upgrade motherboard or will the b450-f still be good enough? I also have a 650W PSU. Should I upgrade the PSU aswell?

Depending on the game titles you play I'd suggest the 5800x3d. It really is a great cpu for gaming with the retired AM4 socket. It is on average about $100 more than the 5800x.

Your motherboard would support the 5800x series with a BIOS update. Replacing it would then bring up the question why invest too much in an older platform.

The 3080 is a good gpu but stocks are running low with the pricing cuts. But they are power hogs. If you can't find one the 4070 TI would be a good candidate as well. With either gpu you choose an 850 watt psu would be a good choice.

Like you I'm still gaming with the older 3800x and 2070S at 1440p. It's been a super rig but changing to a 5800x3d and 4070 TI very soon.

I am also considering selling off my PC and build a new one. I feel like that might be the way to go. If I get a decent price for my PC it wont cost me that much more than upgrading anyways.

What will be the primary uses of your PC, what is your budget, what country are you located, what is your monitor resolution and what if any components do you plan on reusing?

If I decide to build a new PC I probably wont be using any parts, feel like its easier to sell it as whole and fully working PC. Gaming is the primary use. I play both easier multiplayer games and more demanding games such as RDR2 and will most likely buy Hogwarts legacy. Budget would be between 2-2,7k. I'm located in Norway. My monitor is 1080p 280hz. For me 1080p is fine, I would rather play on ultra settings with high FPS.

Wait for early March to purchase your graphics card when Nvidia is due to release the RTX 4060 / 4060 Ti
