Question Should I upgrade my 1440p 165Hz monitor?

I have been using my Asus 1440p IPS 165Hz monitor for 8years, and it still works perfectly. However, I'm considering if there is anything worth upgrading at a reasonable price. Since I have an Nvidia GPU (probably not upgrading cuz of lack of time and kids) 3080, so any new monitor must have some variant of G-sync. Is there any good path? I know the smart thing is to keep it and be content, but you know the itch...

Reasonable price isn't super specific, but it'd likely still be 1440p, likely 240hz fast-IPS. So you'd mostly be looking at presumably better colors and pixel response times. They matter, but they shouldn't be terrible at all on your current PG279Q. Especially with a dad budget in mind. I'd lean it more towards side-grade than upgrade.

My personal pick is hold off for OLED's in the size you want to come down in price a bit in a couple years and treat yourself.
An upgrade now, for reasonable money, I'd only consider if wanting to try ultrawide or such is of interest.

I also still use a PG279Q. Replacements of the same caliber are about $300.

G-Sync is half dead, and still a high premium price. G-Sync compatible monitors are pretty much the norm at the high end.

Something a little better like a 240hz panel will set you back around $500.

I've had my eye on OLED for a while now.

At Computex, GIGABYTE announced the M27UP - a 27" IPS 4k 160Hz monitor for around $300, and supposedly you can run it at 1080p for higher fps. So, yeah I'm jumping on that. It's crazy to think it took a decade to have nearly the same specs in 4k as 1440p. But yeah, it's here. I didn't want a bigger screen. But its nice for the price. My 1440p I bought for about $750 in late 2015, knowing that 4k was too far out. Definitely the right choice.
