So i currently have a 295x2 and was wondering how graphics cards compare to it in 2017.

Currently i play games at 1440p but will be upgrading to a new monitor in the future.

I am thinking of switching to 1080 TI but not sure if its really worth it.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I suggest you to not upgrade from your 295X2 yet:
http://www.game-debate.com/gpu/index.php?gid=3850&gid2=2101&compare=geforce-gtx-1080-ti-msi-gaming-x-11gb-vs-radeon-r9-295x2
I would say ~40% performance difference (there is a margin of error).
Also: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEYPT_1rrh0 (gtx 1080 ti is a bit better vs Titan X Pascal (2%) and ~10% vs Titan Xp)
I would wait at least untill AMD Vega GPU's are on the market (pretty soon). You can also wait for Nvidia Volta this year but I don't think it the xx80 and xx70 will be much better than a gtx 1080 ti (I would say the same)- so a longer wait for the ti version would be needed. I also intend to upgrade next year to an AMD gpu (I have a freesync monitor) since I have a R9 390.

^ Game debate is pretty awful for performance comparisons.

The truth is that, in theory, with perfect crossfire performance, it could come relatively close to a GTX 1080 Ti.

However the games where you're getting perfect crossfire performance is probably a value below 5%. Excluding the micro-stutter you get with dual GPU's that is.

Dual GPU's are a mess, and even when they're working well together in a game it still doesn't get close to the GTX 1080 Ti to be honest.

I know that game debate is quite inaccurate in terms of performance comparisons (otherwise great site to gpu-cpu hardware informations when the date is updated) but it provides a baseline if you can't find benchmarks. I also provided a benchmark link.

I own a 1440p and a 295x2 also. I suggest you stay with the 295x2 and consider Vega. Don't think the upgrade is going to be worth it at this point. Here are my reasons:

- AMD Vega are about to be out.
-Though 295x2 is crossfire dependent AMD drivers release frequency and quality is much improved.
-Performance between the Nvidia lineup doesn't merit the investment for the smaller gains.

Hope this helps.
