[SOLVED] Should I upgrade my Corsair CX430 in respect to my GPU?

Hello all,

I'm currently running an EVGA GTX 650Ti with a Corsair CX430 PSU. I want to upgrade my GPU with a GTX 1660 by Palit. The company, Palit, recommends a system power of at least 450W.

Is it, therefore, best to search for a different graphics card that will reach the specs of my current PSU, or upgrade my PSU to the recommended specification? I currently have an Intel Core i5-3470 and 16GB of DDR3 RAM.

My aim here is to run flight simulator (Prepar3d) where I can get high settings whilst having more than 30fps. I'm currently stuck with medium/low settings with less than 30fps.

Personally i'd say go for a 550W, the card is classed at 120W, but may pull 140W

You don't want to run a PSU at it's top end (in my opinion). It'll cope, but it's not ideal, it's hot, and that'll degrade things more quickly.
