Alright well right now ive got an a6 6400k dual core and a nvidea gt 545 gddr5 and i run games at 1440x900p. I play games like titanfall, cod and other fps and they seem to run fine even at high settings. But for games like GTA v and Dayz dont run good at all.. So Ive got a tight budget and either want to upgrade my cpu to something like an fx-6300 with a new mobo which would cost me 230 bucks (cad) or i could grab a 750ti for like 200bucks??

Solution
I would go for the 750ti. While it is true that the CPU will bottleneck the GPU, having a killer GPU and a modest CPU is better than having it the other way around, seeing a GPUs are much more important that CPUs when it comes to gaming. However, if the opportunity presents itself in the future, go ahead and upgrade your CPU as well.

If you want to limit your GPU choice in the limit of 750 Ti performance, I have 3 suggestions.

Best choice: Get an AMD Ahtlon 860K and an AMD 265. You will probably be able to get it for the same amount of money as an 750 Ti/FX6300 and it will net you better performance.

2nd best choice: The 750 Ti will do just fine with most CPUs really. If you really want to get the 750 Ti (though for the best performance, you're better of with the 265), an 860K will also do just fine. The 750 Ti being a low end GPU and being the main reason for performance bottnecking in games, the 860K will be just fine.

3rd best choice: If you can find a 260X for a quantifiable smaller amount than a 750 Ti, it's also a good setup in combination with a 860K.

PS: Clock for clock, the 860K is some 15% faster than the FX 6300. So in games using only 4 threads properly, the higher performance of the 860K cores will outperform the 6300 cores.

PPS: The 860K comes with a newer motherboard chipset, better featured than the chipset the FX 6300 uses. So that's nice.

yeah only problem is ide have to buy a mobo with the 860k, even though my mobo supports fm2+, it would need bios update which apparently my mobo doesnt support

Impossible. FM2+ is build FOR Kaveri APUs AND the Athlon 860K. FM2+ also supports Trinity and Richland APUs.

Kaveri APUs and Athlons are NOT backward compatible with FM2.

And you wanted a 6300 initially for which you needed to change the mobo anyway. So what's the problem ?

yeah youre right its just my mobo came with a prebuilt desktop and will only flash certain bios versions, i tried flashing the latest bios for it with ez flash 2 but it always says "security verifaction failed", but yeah cheapest option would be like u stated, to just get the 860k, if i could flash latest bios. I could go with 760k because apparently it supports same bios as my current cpu

A 760K is just the CPU part from the A8 6600K with 100 MHz less. And yes, it would definitely work on your mobo. Hmm. This way you could use the spare money you would've used to buy a new motherboard to get a better GPU. You'd get twice the number of CPU cores you have now plus the CPU wouldn't need to power an iGPU too, so more headroom to overclock.

You could buy a 270X now maybe ?
