I have a dell inspiron 580 computer, with RX 460 graphics card. My cpu bottlenecks my gpu and i have decided to upgrade my CPU to a gaming budget one, and i found the best to be the Pentium g4560 at that price. So is that chip compatible with my motherboard?

My pc specs can be found here: https://www.manualowl.com/m/Dell/Inspiron-580/Manual/187271

Motherboard model: Dell Inc. 0C2KJT

Also do i need to apply/ buy thermal paste?

I plan to sell my old one (i5 650 3.2 Ghz) What should i do?

I found a useful guide on how to install a new cpu, is that good? http://www.instructables.com/id/How-To-Replace-the-Processor-in-a-Desktop-Computer/

Solution

Your motherboard does not support it because it has a different socket.

i5 650 socket 1156
g4560 socket 1151

Different pin layout, ram requirements, etc. It simply will not work.
