Should I upgrade my CPU?

So I am using a Intel i5-3570 cpu at the moment, and my buddy just bought a i7-4790k and is willing to sell me his i7-4770.

Here's the catch, he's selling it for $240 flat no shipping costs either. I would be willing to pay that, but do I really have to?

All I am doing it editing videos, (1080p, 60fps Shorter than 15 minutes), browsing the web, and playing games, gtav, cod, minecraft, other things like that.

Should I buy it as it is a good deal, or leave it and not worry about upgrading my cpu?

I wouldn't pay $240 for a used processor I could get new for $250-$300 depending if and when you can find it (its out of production so can be rare), when I gotta go out and buy a new motherboard too to run it.

If your PC is doing what you need it to do, and well now, save your money and get yourself a processor and motherboard upgrade in a year or so. You will end up with something that can demolish what you are about to buy.

I do understand that, but is it worth doing? Or should I buy something else on my pc?

Yeah $240+cost of mobo seems like a lot for an older gen cpu especially when you're not really struggling with your current cpu. I'd take above advice and hold off and spend about that same amount on a current gen cpu/mobo when you need it.

you have a good motherboard so if you want to get more performance without needing to change everything else than you should look for i7 3770K if you can find one for a good price along with a decent air cooler and overclock it and you will see a decent performance boost both in gaming and work tasks .

you don´t need to upgrade your GPU just yet , gtx 970 is still a great card for 1080p gaming .
when new cards will come out in a next few months you can decide whater it is worth it to upgrade or not .
