I haven't encountered any performance issues yet (besides drops in fps in Metro last light) and would like to prevent any to occur at a later date. What i'm asking is will my current PC be able to handle gaming in the near future.

This is what i am working with presently.

1) CPU Cooler - Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO -
2) GPU - GIGABYTE SOC GeForce GTX 680 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5
3) CPU - i5 3570k
4) Mobo - ASUS Maximus V Formula
5) Ram - CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3
6) PSU - Corsair HX750
7) Case - CM Storm trooper

I built this machine about 7 months ago and i haven't overclocked because i don't want to cause a problem with my system and i don't know how to.

Its a very good build.
CPU is great.
GPU is a beast.
Metro is one of the most demanding game so there is no need to worry about the dropping fps.
Your build is very good and can handle future games.
If overclocked then its performance is only going to increase.
:)

Wow thanks for your quick response:). I'm so relived, after watching my fps fluctuating in metro it left me a little unsettled. Do you recommend any place to learn how to overclock to increase my performance as well as any subtle changes like a new CPU cooler or something different?

No need to change the cooler.
Its one of the best.
Regarding overclocking you can check different forums , youtube videos( i personally learnt from it) and there are many sites solely dedicated to this topic.
Just google man :)
