I remember switching from ddr3 to ddr4 and it was insane,. So Now I am wondering if I should upgrade my gpu from a 2080ti to possibly a 4070ti. Or literally everything and go from ddr4 to ddr5 except my gpu. I am not sure what will give me better performance. I play a lot of games, and do video editing, if any of this matters. My current specs are 10900k cpu, 32 gigs ram 2080ti *Gigabyte z490 Aorus Elite AC

*Was thinking of getting 12900k Cpu with w/e mobo and ddr5 Ram and keep the 2080ti OR just upgrade my gpu. I want to upgrade my PC I am just trying to figure out how/the best way to.

You could keep the DDR4 and upgrade to a 12th-14th gen Intel, and get a GPU. Great deals to be had on 12th gen especially. Sell current motherboard and CPU to offset some of the cost.

Trouble is both your system and GPU are still pretty powerfull.

One option is to wait. Maybe the next gen Intels will be a better upgrade.
For example, a 14700K would be a good CPU, or one of the AMD X3D models for gaming. But both would be expensive upgrades.
Your hardware isn't bad enough or old enough.

As for the 4070 Ti Super, that would be a hell of a GPU. But at the same time, we are expecting amazing new GPUs from nvidia by next Easter, and some probably very good Intel Battlemage GPUs as well.
For the price of the 4070 Ti Super today, you will certainly be able to buy something better.
Some will say that is always true, but a) the 50XX nvidias are expected to deliver a major increase in performance, and b) your 2080 Ti is not outdated and so you don't need an upgrade today.

Ultimately, it's not about value for money but about having the right kind of equipment. So if you want, there is a possible new PC to build or the 4070 Ti Super upgrade.

Which ould you most like to do? Buy now or wait for better choices?

Here is one possible choice:

- note the motherboard probably needs to be flashed before it can work with a 13/14th gen CPU
- the GPU is for reference and power usage calculation mostly
- i don't know if you need/want a case or extra NVMe, so i included them as optional
- the board is DDR4, so you can keep your old RAM

You can upgrade on your current motherboard to a i9-11900K.
That is probably only a 10% boost and likely not worth it.
You might get a performance boost if you overclocked.
What is the make/model of your case and cpu cooler?
You might need better cooling to overclock.

But, to get a bigger boost, you will have to change motherboards.

Try this simple test:
Run YOUR games, but lower your resolution and eye candy.
This makes the graphics card loaf a bit.
If your FPS increases, it indicates that your cpu is strong enough to drive a better graphics configuration.
If your FPS stays the same, you are likely more cpu limited.

Fast action games might benefit from a stronger graphics card.
What is the make/model of your psu?

CPU centric games like sims respond to better single thread performance.

If you change motherboards, Intel current gen still supports DDR4 ram, and there is no significant performance boost with DDR5.
i9-12900K would be a nice boost both for rendering and games.
The price may be right in comparison to 13900k,14900 and 14900K
