I was wondering if i wanted 2 upgrade my CPU, what should i get when my budget is around USD 350. Sometimes my cpu would go between 70-100 % when running games like DOOM, GTA5, or even as simple as DOTA 2 and PUBG
Currently using 16gb 2133mhz rams (4 4gb,G.skill Ram) B150 mobo pro gaming AURA by ASUS.
I dont mind going the AMD route though. Heard its more value for money and currently running an EVGA GTX 1080 FTW2.

Thanks for all the feedback

the i5-6500 was quite possibly acknowledged as increasingly marginal for gaming even at it's release..

Four cores and threads simply do not cut it in maintaiining sufficient minimum FPS in most games these days, or, so the comparisons of .1 and 1% lows in the majority of gaming comparisons...

That aside, a B450 and R5-2600 ( or better yet, R5-3600) would go a long way to providing sufficient cores/thread count, and, your GTX1080 is still fine for 1080P and even 1440P...

The better of the two options, B450 and R5-3600, should be obtainable within your budget!

What matters more is: how smooth is your gameplay? Don't watch your CPU usage to have that tell you; what really matters are things like massive stuttering. And if you are getting stuttering, you can try disabling Gsync and see if that helps as well. Your RAM is plenty for those games and while I don't have an i5 6500, I do have and i7 6700 and an i5 6600K; Doom and GTA 5 run fantastic on those at 1080p/1440p with 980Ti/390X, respectively.

How does disabling gsync help?
