Should I upgrade my i7-2700K to an i5-8600K for gaming?

Or should I go for the i7-8700K instead? I know an i5 is usually more than adequate for gaming, but I regularly use emulators like CEMU and RPCS3, and play CPU intensive games like Total War: Warhammer 2 and XCOM 2, so I'm thinking an i7 might be worth the extra money. Is that true? I have a 980 Ti, play at 1080p 60fps, and don't use my PC for anything other than gaming.

I think the 8600K would be just fine especially at 60fps, but if you have the money for the i7... why not? It looks like the 8700K sold out everywhere earlier today though.

Based on the 8400 results, 8600k should VERY nice, too...

If you still have a 2700k, that says a lot about how long you're willing to stay on a platform. I'd get the 8700K if you're planning on keeping it for 6-7 years again
