Should I upgrade my laptop's BIOS

Hello,

I have a Gateway NV52L laptop. It's BIOS version is 1.02, and I have searched everywhere for the patch notes for the 2.14 BIOS version. If there are extra bells and wistles that I can use that will give me more control (like bing able to tinker with the north bridge) over my APU (upgraded to an AMD A10-4600m APU), then I might consider upgrading, but doing that is risky so I don't want to upgrade if i don't have to.

I highly doubt that Gateway would give you extra control over the components. OEM manufacturers don't need to do so as 90% of their consumers won't even sight the BIOS; Updates to it will be for compatibility with newer hardware or mostly bug fixes, as the BIOS for an OEM PC is very utilitarian.
