What are you actually doing on it first?
This will determine which, if any you should upgrade.

If you just do basic tasks and would rather have faster boot ups and quicker program loads, SSD.
I am going to be using Final Cut Pro and Xcode and uses google chrome

Well those kind of programs would almost warrant 4GB of RAM.
The SSD will give you more obvious up front benefits.
The additional RAM will help your main applications run more effectively (referring specifically to Final Cut, Xcode and Chrome)

Final cut typically requires 4GB, Xcode 4/8GB and Chrome can use all the RAM in the world.

Fina; cut typically requirs 4GB, Xcode 4/8GB and Chrome can use all the RAM in the world.
If I get a ssd for example how would I reinstall Mac OS
