Question Should I upgrade my mobo

I have an Asus prime H-310 plus and I was thinking about upgrading my cpu from an i7-8700 to an i7-8700k. Before I do that I was wondering if I should upgrade my motherboard or should I be fine? I also noticed that in bios I have very minimal options when it comes to tweaking, does that have to do with the motherboard or the locked cpu?

I would upgrade to a Z370 or Z390 board , which are designed to handle the higher demands of the unlocked CPU's.

Okay I will look into that. I’m new to this so changing my motherboard seems scary

Will changing my Asus motherboard to an Msi motherboard effect anything? Or should I stick with Asus
