I would play games that are about fortnite minimum requirement systemHonestly, I'd just get a new system entirely. You probably couldn't really game with anything of the sort.
What games would you be playing?
There really isn't any CPU powerful enough for any gaming for am2 board.
I would suggest selling the PC and buying a newer one with a 4 core.

Is it true that I can fit a am3 chip in a am2 motherboardThere really isn't any CPU powerful enough for any gaming for am2 board.

My budget is at least 250, I’ve seen people that have Bought parts from eBay used and made a low end gaming pc that can run medium fortnite settings for about 200$What is your budget and country?
Technology is my life and I love computersam2 cpus only fit into am2 motheboards and same goes for all other cpus and motherboards.
thank you In just hoping to build my own pc, I can take a pc apart and put it back together and I can boot windows into a new ssd/HDD, I’m in love with PCs and their complex systemsAs for AM3 compatibility: Yes and no. It depends on the quality and TDP rating of your motherboard. Still, no am3 CPU is worth upgrading to since they don't support the latest instructions required for games like pubg or apex legends to even open. You may just get an error.
Read here for compatibility: https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/would-an-am3-cpu-fit-in-an-am2-socket.1563533/
AM3 cpus will work in AM3+ boards, but not vice versa. AM3 CPUs may work in AM2 boards, but not vice versa.
Still, just scrap the system because nothing in AM3 is going to run many popular games thanks to instruction issues, if it even works in your board.
I would buy this for about $110 and throw a used video card in it:

Core I5 2400 Quad Core @3.1ghz
8gb DDR3
500GB HDD
Also importantly it has a big enough case to add a gpu like a GTX 750ti or 1050. Cards that dont need any power connectors
