Should I "upgrade" my PC?

I currently have a i7 4770 CPU with 16GB of RAM, would it be worth it to go for a Ryzen 1600 with DDR4 memory? I use my PC mostly for gaming and some light editing but I want to keep it future proof and selling my current components I'll get enough to buy the new parts (CPU+Motherboard+RAM).

For just pure gaming that is not really upgrading the 4770 is still a very good gaming CPU.

The i7 4770 has better single core performance, so upgrading to Ryzen would essentially be considered a downgrade, as far as gaming is concerned. Very few games are optimized for more than 4 cores, which is also another reason why you'll not see a benefit upgrading from an i7 4770 to Ryzen.

I think that Ryzen and haswell are pretty close to equal with single core performance. Recent comparison I saw shows the 16 trading blows with the 4790k. That said, op, seems to me that your cpu is fine. In my opinion, grab a graphics card now and see where things stand in a year or so.
