Should I upgrade my RAM and CPU cooler for 4k/1440p gaming?

Here's my current build:

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-H97N-WIFI
GPU: GTX 980ti
CPU: i5-4690K
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-L9l
Memory: Crucial 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3
PSU: 750w Evga Supernova
Case: Enthoo Evolv itx

I previously had a 970 in this PC and it totally did the job for 1080p gaming but I replaced it with a 980ti because I want to play games at 1440p at minimum. Are the rest of my components up to snuff? I have a cheap CPU cooler and memory so I wonder if they will be good enough at higher resolutions.

That's a fine rig for 1440p. I saw very little gaming gains moving from a 2600K with 8GB of DDR3 1600 to a 6700K with 16GB of DDR4 3200, both with a 980 Ti. At 1440p the load is on the graphics card and the CPU doesn't matter as much. That being said you still have a very good CPU.

That cooler might have been cheap but it's still a Noctua and it performs quite well.
