My current mobo is Asus M4A78-EM/1394 with Amd phenom ii x4 965 cpu .It has ddr2 3*2gb = 6gb of corsair gaming ram.Psu is Corsair 600w extreme power plus. Now im upgrading from my XFX 4890 to rx480 8gb probably Msi or Sapphire depending on price and availability.
I love to play games at very high settings with a solid performance and i dont like a drop in performance..So since some modern games like ac syndicate,Gta 5 require more than 6gb of ram my questions are
1.Can i add extra 2gb ddr2 which is different like this - http://www.amazon.in/Corsair-DDR2-2GB-RAM-CM2X2048-6400C5/dp/B00160P77Y ? I have no idea about cas latency, settings and etc i.e its compatibility with my older rams..So need guidance. (or)
2.Is 6gb enough given rx480 is a powerful card and i can upgrade my mobo later ? (or)
3.Should i upgrade my mobo to add more ram ?
4.Is my cpu enough to run modern games or should i upgrade?
5.Finally is my PSU enough to run rx480 or should i upgrade?

Note: I use this system only for gaming.

for 1080p@60Hz, the difference will not be noticeable between the 480 and 470.
I checked the price of the card you mentioned ant it's 240$ on newegg.
That is:
* 40$ more than GTX 1060 3GB that will still run better on average
* At 4$ more there are GTX 1060 6GB that are way better cards. At 20$ you can get EVGA GTX 1060SC Gaming.
Like I understand people choosing AMD cards out of weird emotions.
But in your case, it is inferior card for the price of a good card.
unless your pricing is very different, it's is not rational and not smart.
To answer PSU question, a model would be helpful - generally, should be fine.
The first thing to upgrade after GPU, would be the CPU. Since AMD does not offer anything decent for gaming right now, you'd be better getting intel i5+MB+RAM for 300-400$

Ok thanks..PSU model is rs-600-pcar-e3 - http://www.coolermaster.com/powersupply/extreme/extreme-power-plus-600w/ .Actually my pc is already 6-7 years old.So will it be enough in every aspect to handle rx480 ?

with your PSU, the RX 480 should be fine.
With your CPU ... when you play a game, every frame is processed by CPU first and then the information of what to draw is passed to GPU. In case of weak CPU, it will not be able to give enough data to GPU, so GPU will be idling. There is nothing wrong with it technically. It just that your GPU will not be used to it's full potential. So if you are not planning to upgrade the CPU very soon, you are kinda wasting money on the GPU.
When RX 480 is paired with stronger CPU like modern i5, it will be utilized close to 100% in games.

Ok guys..I think upgrading will be best considering my aging PC and due to the budget stretch now im considering RX470 8gb(yes im particular with 8gb of any model) sapphire nitro+ OC which is 20% less price than RX480 8gb but really cant decide ! Will an RX 470 8gb nitro can handle games at 1080p for another 3-4 years ? I can stretch my budget for RX480 if its a whole lot better than RX470 and in price to performance ratio.
